Spotcycle listens: Android update 3.3.1 removes direct calling function from Google Places and using contacts for Google directions

We recently released Spotcycle v.3.3 for Android devices which included a number of convenient features when searching for directions and points of interest.

Our Android users, however, spoke up and were put off about the changes to the terms and conditions which required permission to access to the user’s phone contacts when using Google directions and direct calling for points of interest. We understand.

Based on user feedback, we decided to quash those features in our latest Android release (v.3.3.1) [download] by removing the direct calling function for Google Places and also removing the function to use a phone contact’s coordinates as points of origin or destinations with Google directions.

You spoke, and we listened. With your feedback, we’ll be able to improve our application to help make it your go-to bike share application.

Feel free to let us know what you think!
